COLEMAN IMPACT FLAG

Since 1985, the Coleman glacier has thinned at an average of 1m/year and has retreated around 700m. The melt is accelerating. I have returned to this glacier throughout the past decade to frolic and climb and mourn its melting. When I think of the Coleman, I think of the people I've witnessed this jagged ice with. I think of the flow between mountain and humans, and although the runoff lessens as the glacier shrinks, for the moment this water links the ice to the downstream world. It's all about flow.

Medium: cotton canvas, yarn, thread, paint, pen, pencil, scrap fabric, stick.

Size: 32" x 36" (+ ~5" with string + stick for hanging).
